A Tale of Two Sydneys

Sidney and Cyd, folks much like you and I, unexpectedly meet one, most unlikely guru, who shows them five learnings, transforming and ordinary day into an extraordinary field trip that changes both their lives.

Something for older kids and young adults, “A Tale of Two Sydneys” is a no-messing, straight-talking, manga-inspired, self-improvement story. It’s a light-hearted means to revealing some life-changing advice around a fist full of learnings that, should you choose to adopt them, seriously threaten to change your life experiences for the better.

***** Five Great Learnings

This book has five great learnings presented in a comic strip way but I can’t really say what they are without spoiling it. Basically you travel with two syds and their guide through time and space meeting a range of inspiring, famous people including Venus Williams, Thomas Edison and Greg Mortenson and they help share the learnings. I think this book would be great for young teens upwards to give them a boost when they’re feeling swamped with modern school and peer pressure.

***** Suitable for all ages! Enjoyable and easy to read with insightful lessons

I’ve read this book before I passed it on to my eleven year old daughter who has just started secondary school, she is going through a confusing time of finding out who she is and what learning is all about. After reading this book I am confident this will help guide her to recognise her strengths and build upon them. The lessons inside are very eye-opening and inspiring! I own a small business and had to work harder than my peers to get my degree as I’m not naturally academic but as the book says ‘effort beats talent’ and it’s made me realise that passion, drive and effort is so important and should be recognised and rewarded. The book has captivating pictures and clear messages that get the points across cleverly and gives the reader a lot to ponder. Inspiring read!

***** Can-do Courage for Teenagers

A Tale of Two Sydneys has an immediate impact, visually; the artwork is stunning and appealed to my teenage sons because it invited them in, it looked like fun. And it is fun, although it’s about serious stuff. The book explores the barriers which each of us can put up to improving and learning, regardless of how much talent we have. This is not often up for an available sort of discussion anywhere; in particular, our fear of failure and what it can feel like learning in a group are grabbed and explored by the manga characters. Fundamentally, A Tale of Two Sydneys is an affirming, encouraging, accessible read about courage and how to find some.

***** Brilliant

I’m not a big reader by any means, but this book really grabbed my attention and I was unable to put it down! The story was quick paced, sharp and funny. Now the artwork was amazing and extremely talented. In the end there’s a lot to learn from this, and it probably things we already realise but this book really puts things into perspective and reinforces how we can help ourselves in day to day life!

***** A Must Read!

Inspired and thought provoking! This graphic novel will appeal to young and youth alike with its eye catching illustrations. In this easily read and engaging book, young people will learn what it is to be resilient and how to better enable themselves to achieve personal goals. For young people of today trying to find their way in the world (and those who support them) …it is a ‘must read!’

This book is an ingenious way of helping young people learn key lessons for life and personal development. It cleverly illustrates each learning with role models from a range of areas, to make it accessible and relevant. And the illustrations are highly creative and engaging. Highly recommended!

***** Great for Teenagers

This is a quirky, interesting read exploring the boundaries of achievement and what it takes to achieve success. There is no set formula for success – but it does take a positive attitude and application for starters……….My two teenager girls really enjoyed this book.
